How DNA Splicers fuse a team

v1.12.2.3 · checked 2026-11-03

The first Pokémon is the primary. The second is the sacrifice. Each fused base stat is the average rounded up, as implemented with Math.ceil. The ability comes from the sacrifice. The passive stays with the primary.

Unfusing is free and the sacrifice is lost. Catching a fusion pays candy only to the primary. Candy friendship while you use the fusion is split across both. The public getBaseStats implementation uses Math.ceil for each average. An average of 80.5 therefore becomes 81. The fusion calculator applies that rule to the selected forms.

After the fuse, the sacrifice’s four moves are learned first, then you keep four out of eight. A Memory Mushroom can recall either learnset. Held items merge, and anything over the hold limit is dropped. Mega stones and form items work on the primary only. If both share a type, the wiki’s form rule picks the other type for the second slot.

In Classic the DNA Splicer sits in the Master pool with weight 0 or 24, and only while the party has two unfused Pokémon. Spliced Endless drops it to the Great pool at weight 4. That weight pair is why I do not call the item common.

Questions

Which Pokémon supplies the ability?

The second one, the sacrifice. The primary keeps its passive, nature, IVs, level, first type, and Tera type.

Which stats are kept?

Neither side’s base stats are kept whole. Each base stat is the average rounded upward with Math.ceil. For example, 80 and 81 produce 81. These are base stats, not the final level-scaled battle stats.
